The
NLL technology takes the form of an innovative electronic control unit for the
intelligent control of LED power supply, light flow, temperature and
operational characteristics of an LED lighting unit. This technology controls
the luminaire, automatically maintaining the unit at the optimum operating
conditions. LED efficiency and light
output is particularly sensitive to LED temperature; this is closely controlled
by the NLL technology, directly resulting in extended useful operating life and
optimised performance throughout the life of each LED.
The
luminaire has just four key components, plus a wiring loom and is therefore
relatively simple to manufacture, operate and maintain. Other product variants are planned for street
lighting and other application areas including industrial and office
environments.
Lighting
represents a large proportion of total energy consumption worldwide. For example, 22 percent of the total energy
costs of the USA are due to lighting and street lighting is a significant
element of this. Analysis of the
European and World markets suggests that the relevant market in emerging
lighting technologies for non-domestic luminaires is worth in excess of €13Bn
in Europe and €40Bn worldwide. The
market is being driven by environmental, economic and local governmental
pressures to save money, improve road safety and reduce carbon footprints. The global drive towards net zero carbon and
the focus on climate change policies only reinforces the argument for the NLL
LED products.
Bright
Power
With the Bright
Power concept having been proven in a working prototype and a expressions
of interest received for the supply to the Italian market place, the business
is looking to exploit the Bright Power Adaptive Logic Module into all
LED and OLED market applications.
The market
place continues to show exceptional growth and the business is focusing on
becoming the “Intel Inside” for all LED applications. Tentative talks have
taken place with key players (for example Sony, Cree (arguably the world’s
number one in LEDs) and Siemens) who are interested in either Licensing or
Purchasing Product.
Product Features
Bright
Power, developed for LED matrix-based lighting
systems to address the operational problems that these systems have
traditionally experienced. This has direct application in all LED lighting
products. Its key features include:
- Electronic control of critical LED temperature, maximising LED efficiency and dramatically extending LED life.
- High conversion efficiency of up to 94 percent, exceeding any other power supplies currently available, which uses more of the power supplied to produce light and less as wasted heat.
- Electronic power factor correction.
- Electronic control and protection against voltage surge, short-circuit or overload for the whole unit and for individual LEDs.
- Wide input voltage range (90VAC-270VAC), enabling world-wide operation.
- Optimised control of losses within the power supply stages, further increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs.
- LED matrix integrity, isolating damaged or failing individual LEDs while remaining LEDs function normally, thus increasing product reliability and useful operational life.
